Postgraduate students must ensure the official nomination and appointment of their Supervisory Committee (JKP) to avoid any disruption to their duration of study.
Appointment Deadline: The nomination process (via form GS10a) must be completed no later than the second semester of study.
Consequences of Non-Compliance:
3rd Semester: Academic status will be changed to SUSPENDED if the student fails to appoint the JKP by the end of the second semester. Suspended students are not allowed to register for any courses until the JKP is appointed and officially approved by the JKPSU.
4th Semester: Academic status will be changed to TERMINATED if the student still fails to appoint the committee.
Students are required to follow these procedures for the appointment process:
Fill Out the Online Form: Complete the GS-10a form via the Student Portal under the Form & Documents section.
Approval & Signatures: Print the completed form and obtain signatures of endorsement from all nominated supervisory committee members.
Document Submission: Submit the signed hardcopy form to the Office of the Deputy Dean (Research & Postgraduate Studies) along with any required supporting documents.
If your supervisory committee includes members or experts from outside the university, please enclose the following additional documents:
External Members to UPM (Local / International): Must attach the GS75 form.
International Members: Must attach the GS75 form along with a specific checklist form. You can download the checklist directly from the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) official link: 👉 Download International Member Appointment Checklist Form
Comprehensive Examination (CE): All PhD students must sit for their Comprehensive Examination as early as Semester 3 and no later than Semester 4.
Please note that you will not be permitted to sit for the CE unless your Supervisory Committee (JKP) has been officially appointed and approved beforehand.
