VISIT TO THE FACULTY OF BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOMOLECULAR SCIENCES, UPM, BY SMK (LKTP) TERSANG

Serdang, MALAYSIA (April 6, 2016) – The Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences had received a visit from 35 students (Form 4 and 5) and five teachers of the SMK (LKTP) Tersang, Raub, Pahang. A briefing and lab visit were organised to welcome the students and teachers. The visit aimed to introduce the students to the scenario or lifestyle on studying at the Faculty.

The students and teachers reached the Faculty at 11.15 am. As a start, Dr. Dhilia Udie Lamasudin represented the Faculty to give a briefing. The students and teachers were briefed on Faculty’s education background, undergraduate programmes offered by the Faculty and entry requirement for each programme. They were also explained about job opportunities available at the related fields; Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology as well as Cell and Molecular Biology. A question and answer session was followed, involving representative lecturers from four different departments (Associate Prof. Dr. Foo Hooi Ling, Dr. Zetty Norhana Balia Yusof, Dr. Syahida Ahmad, Dr. Nur Fatihah Mohd Yusoff, Dr. Muhaimin Roslan and Dr. Saila Ismail).

After the briefing, the students and teachers were brought to a practical class of undergraduate course to expose on how the undergraduates learn and handle experiments. This session was conducted by Dr. Siti Aqlima Ahmad and Dr. Zetty Norhana Balia Yusof.

The visit ended at 12.30pm, with all students responded to pursue their study at tertiary level.
