Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) represented by Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences and Chulalongkorn University, Thailand represented by Faculty of Science have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to promote academic exchange between the two faculties.

For the signing ceremony, UPM was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International), YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Mad Nasir Samsudin, while Chulalongkorn University was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polkit Sangvanich, Dean, Faculty of Science. The MoA signing ceremony was held on Wednesday, 17^th August 2016 at Bilik Tetamu, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Administration Building, UPM.

The MoA covers academic staff and students exchange including undergraduate and postgraduate students, development of study abroad program, co-supervision for postgraduate students and other benefits.

The MoA also aims to initiate the networking between researchers from both universities particularly in biotechnology-related fields towards the establishment of collaborative research. As one of the leading research universities in Malaysia, UPM has always been putting high interest in identifying future researchers and networking options to develop and promote science and technology research and development.

In conjunction with the MoA signing, a seminar entitled “Workshop on Biotechnology of Biomass Utilization for ASEAN Development” was held on 16^th August 2016 at Biotech 1, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, UPM. Eight researchers from UPM and eight researchers from Chulalongkorn University were invited as guest speakers for the Workshop.
