An academic staff member of the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (FBSB), who also serves as the Deputy Dean for Industry and Community Relations at the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mariatulqabtiah Abdul Razak, has received the Emerging Alumni Leader Award from Imperial College London, UK. The award was announced on the university’s official website on 9 January 2026 (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/alumni/alumni-awards/emerging/).
Established in 2020, the award recognises and celebrates rising stars, innovators, game-changers and future leaders selected from among alumni of Imperial College London, a university ranked first in the UK and Europe, and second in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2026 (https://www.topuniversities.com/world-university-rankings). The selection criteria include alumni who have made significant contributions in leading their respective fields, demonstrated strong determination and motivation in leadership and the pursuit of excellence, shown tangible impact through their work, served as inspiring role models or mentors and made positive contributions to the community through professional, voluntary or charitable activities.
Through an article reflecting on her journey during her PhD studies at Imperial College London from 2008 to 2011, Assoc.
