A group of researchers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) led by Prof. Dr. Lai Oi Ming, a professor at the Bioprocess Technology Department, won the gold medal in the 28th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2017 (ITEX 2017) which was held on 11 - 13 May 2017 at the Kuala  Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia. The recognition was obtained for their research entitled 'Safe and premium tocotrienol-carotenoid rich functional cosmeceutical products for eczema patient' and the invention has been recently commercialized as a moisturizing cream product known as REMDII Sensitive.
