8 January 2026 - The UPM–Okayama University (OU) Joint Postgraduate Symposium 2026 successfully brought together 30 postgraduate participants and academic staff from both institutions. This marks the second joint symposium organised between UPM and OU, reflecting continued commitment toward academic cooperation and research mobility.

Over the two-hour technical session, a total of nine research presentations were delivered across diverse biotechnology-related fields, including biosensors, molecular biology, microbiology, cancer research, natural product chemistry, and aquaculture. The symposium also featured a special session by Prof. Tadayoshi Kanao (OU) titled "Studies on enzymes related to sulfur-oxidation in the iron- and sulfur-oxidizing bacterium, Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans".

This annual symposium reflects the long-standing academic relationship between UPM and Okayama University, supporting internationalisation efforts, postgraduate development, and cross-institutional research synergy. Both institutions expressed confidence that continued engagement will lead to stronger research networks and potential joint degree pathways in the future.
