🌟 FBSB INNOVATION RECOGNISED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL 🌟

Kuala Lumpur, 9 October 2025 – A proud achievement for the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (FBSB) as the research of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Sarah binti Othman has been successfully commercialised through the start-up company Edstem Sdn. Bhd., under Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) InnoHub programme.

The innovative product, “See Your DNA” — a STEM education kit for DNA isolation — was introduced during the Closing Ceremony of the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo (NICE) 2025, held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL). The launch ceremony, officiated by the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), also featured the signing of an MOU between both parties.

This innovative kit is designed to help students and the public better understand the concept of DNA and the extraction process in a simple, safe, and cost-effective manner. The initiative not only fosters interest in science and biotechnology but also supports the nation’s aspiration to strengthen STEM education and nurture a culture of innovation among the younger generation.
