Bioprocessing and Biomanufacturing Research Centre (BBRC) is a research centre under the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences. This research centre was established since 1999 as Fermentation Technology Unit at Institute of Bioscience. BBRC consists of several facilities including Bioprocess Technology Laboratory, Good Manufacturing Practice Facilities for Bacterial Vaccines Production, Biomanufacturing for Food and Food Ingredients Laboratory and Analytical Laboratory. These facilities are being offered to UPM researchers as well as researchers from other institutions and private companies. BBRC in particular specialises in fermentation and bioprocess technology for various processes of fermentation based on microbial, fungi and plant cultivation.

The main objective of BBRC is to be a national leader in Bioprocessing and Biomanufacturing, with the ability to help in enhancing the commercialization of biotechnology products in Malaysia. In ensuring the product is in-line with market requirement, we offer complete services from upstream to downstream processes for the development of your product interest. BBRC also offers various consultation and training services closely related to bioprocessing and biomanufacturing technology needs. With the facilities and expertise available at the BBRC, the commercialization of products based on Biotechnology can be greatly enhanced.
