Master in Biotechnology with Bioentrepreneurship (MBB)

 

  1. What is the MBB programme?

MBB is a 1-year coursework-based master’s programme that integrates biotechnology knowledge with entrepreneurship and commercialisation skills, preparing graduates for both scientific and business-related careers in the biotechnology industry.

This programme is designed for:

  • Fresh graduates seeking advanced knowledge in biotechnology

  1. How long does it take to complete the programme?

The MBB programme is structured in three trimesters (1 year), allowing students to graduate in a shorter duration compared to conventional master’s programmes.

 

  1. What is the mode of study?

MBB offers a flexible hybrid learning mode:

  • 70% Online
  • 30% Face-to-face

This format allows students to balance academic commitments with work and personal responsibilities.

 

  1. When are classes conducted?

Classes are scheduled to accommodate working professionals:

  • Weekday evenings: 6:30 PM – 9:45 PM
  • Sunday: Hands-on laboratory sessions

 

  1. What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; or
  • CGPA 2.50 – 2.749 (subject to internal assessment); or
  • CGPA below 2.50 with at least 5 years of relevant working experience

APEL admission pathway may also be considered where applicable.

 

  1. Are there English language requirements for international applicants?

Yes. International applicants must fulfil one of the following:

  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 550
  • IELTS: Minimum Band 6.0
  • MUET: Minimum Band 4

 

  1. How many credits are required to graduate?

Students must complete a minimum of 40 credits, including core courses, elective courses, and a dissertation (mini research project).

 

  1. Is the programme accredited?

Yes. MBB is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
