Lecturers from the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences gave a talk on “Microbes and Me” to kindergarten children from Q-Dees 16 Sierra on the 4th October 2019.
The team was lead by Dr. Adelene Song together with Dr. Wan Nur Ismah, Dr. Amalia Mohd Hashim, Dr. Irwan Hanish, Ruweyda Abdalla and Kok Kam Yan. The children were exposed to the world of microbes and were given a chance to look at bacteria under the microscope.
They were taught about how microbes affect our hygiene and how to wash their hands properly. Hand-washing experiments were conducted as well as sneezing simulations to inculcate good hygiene practice in the children.
Kids were also taught about good microbes found in our food like cheese and probiotic drinks. Special thanks to Vitagen for sponsoring and for giving the kids a dose of good microbes!
